Maggie became a Childress on July 3, 2004. Taylor and I were at "Maggie's Bark Park" in Franklin with Gamer. A storm was coming, so all the people at the park starting packing up to leave. Taylor noticed that there was one dog who had been pacing back and forth the whole time we were there, and she didn't seem to belong to anyone! The park is behind the Williamson County Shelter, and when I went to ask them about her, they said she had been abandoned there by a man in a truck earlier that day. She was really hard to catch, but we caught her finally, and the shelter workers started to evaluate her. Luckily, I stayed... because she didn't pass the temperment test. She was too fearful and growled one time--which is one time too many in an overcrowded Southern shelter! They said she was not an adoptable dog, so Taylor and I scooped her up and put her in the backseat of the car, and after a month or so of trying to find her a home, we decided she was officially part of our family!
